According to trainer Nacho Beristain, Mike Alvarado was very lucky last Saturday night at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The Hall of Fame trainer revealed that Juan Manuel Marquez had a very bad blister on his left foot and it severely bothered him during the fight. Marquez won a dominating twelve round unanimous decision. Nacho was happy with the performance, but says the blister prevented Marquez from closing things out with a knockout when he had Alvarado in trouble.

"Juan Manuel should have looked much better that night, but unfortunately that blister got worse. It first [began bothering him] about two days [before the fight] when we finished a session at the gym. That problem prevented Marquez from getting a knockout. He threw many straight rights, but he could not finish him off. While trying to finish him, the left leg was a big nuisance. [Juan Manuel] was very smart, he boxed, he fought when he had to, he is an excellent athlete and the fans recognized him," Nacho said.

The next fight on the table is a fifth battle against WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, likely in November. Top Rank's CEO, Bob Arum, wants to stage the fight in Macau. Nacho likes the idea of Macau and he prefers to have that fight happen overseas, because of the high taxation rate in the United States.

"For me in particular, they could take as much as 40 percent in tax in the United States; the other option [Macau] should be considered by all of the promoters and fighters [for taxation purposes]," Nacho said.

Marquez has yet to make a decision on whether or not he intends to face Pacquiao in the fall.
