Manchester pair Anthony Crolla and John Murray will face each other in April.

The lightweight rivals will be the main support to Scott Quigg's world title defence at the Phones 4u Arena, on April 19, live on Sky Sports.

The pair have called each other out in the last few days and although Murray has just fought and Crolla has been out of action due to a 10-stitch cut, the deal has already been done.

The winner will move closer to a major title shot in the summer but as well as local Manchester bragging rights on offer, trainer Joe Gallacher will be the centre of attention.

He trains Crolla and of course, used to train Murray too, although the latter says bad blood will not get in the way of his preparations.

"This is the one that I have always wanted," said Murray. "I hope that in the build-up people concentrate on us and not Joe Gallagher, we're doing the fighting.

"This is the reason I turned pro, I wanted to be on big bills in Manchester - Anthony and I are friends but we won't be until after the fight.

"I want to put on a destructive performance and get back up to world level.

Crolla was due to fight John Simpson in Glasgow on Saturday night but picked up a bad cut in training last month and had to pull out.

Murray stepped in and stopped the Scot in two leaving his former gym-mate itching to get back in the ring.

"I went to the MEN Arena when I was younger and dreamt of being in massive fights in there," he said.

"This is the biggest Manchester boxing derby there is and I am so excited to be in it.

"I was gutted not to box in Glasgow but it's worked out fantastic, John and I have had lots of great sparring sessions and if they are anything to go by it will be a great fight."

Quigg defends his WBA super-bantamweightweight title s against mandatory challenger Nehomar Cermeno, while Olympians Anthony Joshua and Luke Campbell will be on the undercard, along with former world bantamweight champion Jamie McDonnell.
