Former three division world champion Shane Mosley (49-10-1, 41 KOs) would not rule out the possibility of securing Russian citizenship.

Two years ago, another American fight veteran - former four division world champion Roy Jones Jr. - became a Russian citizenship and then pursued a very profitable fight run in Eastern Europe, and also took part in several business ventures in the county.

Mosley is the latest future Hall of Famer to fight on Russian soil in the late stage of his career. On May 5 in Yekaterinburg, Mosley will face fast rising Russian junior middleweight prospect Magomed Kurbanov (10-0, 8 KOs) in a twelve round bout for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental junior middleweight championship.

The fight will be organized by promotional company RCC Boxing Promotions (Titov Boxing Promotions).

Mosley says he would consider the idea of following in the same footsteps as Jones, who became a citizen of Russia.

"Actually, it's an interesting idea if there came an opportunity to get dual citizenship... I would have think about it",  Mosley said. "I'm here for the first time in Russia, I like it here. Yes, I know that Roy Jones had come to fight, and now I'm coming here and it's great."

According to Mosley, his 26 year old son, Shane Mosley Jr. (9-1, 6 KOs), will also fight on the card. Mosley fought five times in 2016, and walked away with five wins.

Kurbanov turned pro in June of 2015. He fought five times in 2016. Mosley has been out of the ring since last June, when he lost a twelve round decision to another Russian fighter, David Avanesyan.

Mosley, who 45 years old, is 3-5-1 in his last nine fights dating back to 2010.
