Mexican super featherweight Miguel Roman (55-11) was too strong for Spaniard Juli Giner (18-2-1) in their WBC eliminator last night (April 1) in Barcelona and won on a eighth round TKO when Giner was retired by his corner after being floored twice. Giner was off to a good start and grabbed an early lead but Roman won the fight with a strong body attack that wore down his opponent.

Roman will now fight the winner of the upcoming fight between WBC champion Francisco Vargas and veteran Orlando Salido, which takes place on June 4th in California.

In the chief support, super lightweight Sandor Martin (26-1) outscored Belgian Steve Jamoye (19-2-1) over ten.

This Gallego Prada promotion pulled in 3000 fans at the Vall d´Hebron and showed again that professional boxing is back for real in Catalonia.

In other news, promoters Alexander Petkovic and Nadine Rasche have ”downgraded” Howik Bebraham´s fight against Domenico Urbano to a fight for the BDB version of the International German super lightweight title. It was previously due to a case of miscommunication with the fight being billed as for the WBC International title.

Bebraham (2-0) is still one to watch and in Urbano (26-4-1)  he face a still decent veteran.

Petko´s Fight Night goes ahead April 8 at the Eisbach Studio in Munich (Germany).
