After eight weeks of a strong training camp in England, Argenis ‘The Thunderstorm” Méndez will return to the United States on Thursday. Mendez is confident that he will defeat Juan Carlos Salgado of Mexico for the IBF's super featherweight world title on March 9th in Costa Mesa, California. Méndez and Salgado will fight for the second time. In the first contest, won by Salgado, many analysts and mass media saw a very close fight and some of them believe Méndez did enough to win. Mendez wants to leave no doubts in the rematch.

“We reached all of our goals in the training camp in England, and now we are returning to the United States to complete the last phase for this fight with Salgado. We are in excellent physical condition and anxious to enter to the ring to recover this International Boxing Federation belt,” Méndez said.

From England, Mendez's trainer Lee Beard is also very confident and wants his fighter to end things early.

“We are going to knock him out early in this fight to avoid any possibility of doubts” Beard stated.

Manager Jose Nunez added: “It will be a great battle and we have no doubt about that. We respect Juan Carlos Salgado but we know Méndez's skills, and we are sure that he will go out with his hand raised high on March 9th."
