British heavyweight title prospect ‘Big Bad’ John McDermott has been given a boost after the disappointment of having to pull-out of his British title eliminator with David Price. The 31 year-old has been told that he will face the winner of David Price and Tom Dallas after Dallas stepped in at just five days notice to meet the Liverpudlian.
Former English champion McDermott was forced to withdraw with a throat infection and promoter Frank Maloney has assured the Essex fighter that he will get another chance to fight in the title eliminator in October when he will meet the winner of the bout, which takes place at the Olympia in Liverpool on Saturday night.
The coveted Lonsdale Belt has now become the subject of a five-man domestic tournament with champion Dereck Chisora defending against Tyson Fury on July 23rd at Wembley Arena and then Price, Dallas and McDermott battling it out to meet the winner early in 2012.
