Lee McAllister will make the first defence of his Commonwealth lightwelterweight title against fellow-Scot Eddie Doyle.

Doyle, the current British Masters champion is undefeated since turning pro in 2008, and will fight McAllister on the 19th of October in Aberdeen.

"This is a dream come true," said Doyle. "Lee has been a great champion, but I feel that I can grab the title with both hands.

"My chance has come at the right time."

The bout takes place at Aberdeen's Beach Ballroom and will also feature McAllister's brother Matthew, Darren Traynor and potentially the pro-debut of Aberdeen-based Marek Laskowski.

McAllister quit on his stool before the eighth round of his fight against Russian Denis Shafikov to lose his challenge for the European light-welterweight title in Aberdeen.

His Commonwealth belt was won against Isaac Quartey of Ghana in 2001 by a unanimous decision, and he's keen to restore some family pride after Matthew lost out to Doyle at amateur level.

"After my unsuccessful challenge for the European title I am fully recovered from my injuries and want to show my faithful Aberdeen fans that I still have much to offer," said McAllister.

"The idea that fighting another Scot makes me even more determined to put on a show. I also am fighting for family pride because Eddie defeated my brother Matthew in the final of the Scottish Amateur Championships."
