Floyd Mayweather Sr., father and trainer of WBC/WBA welterweight and junior middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs), said his son refused to follow their game plan in the first fight with Marcos Maidana in May. Floyd won a twelve round majority decision.

According to Mayweather Sr., he made every possible attempt to have his son follow their developed strategy, but Floyd Jr. ignored his instructions. 

"I could not handle anything [in the fight] because Floyd wasn't listening that night. Floyd was doing what Floyd wanted to do. He didn't listen to his daddy. I was frustrated. Even when he headbutted Floyd and busted his eye, I was frustrated there a little bit. When [Floyd] said what he was going to do, I was just trying to handle it the best way I know how without stopping the fight. It was an unnecessary injury [if he would have followed my game plan]," Mayweather Sr. said.

The Showtime Pay-Per-View rematch is days away, set for this coming Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This time Mayweather Sr. expects his son to execute the game plan, which the trainer claims is even better than what he put together before the first fight.

"I think you are going to see a masterful performance from Floyd. I think it's going to be a much better game plan this time," Mayweather Sr. said.
