Marco Antonio "Veneno" Rubio, who last October was blasted in two rounds by Gennady Golovkin and said he was seriously considering retirement, is planning to continue his career and intends to move up in weight to 168-pounds, which is no surprise with Rubio failing to make weight for the Golovkin loss.
Mexican promoter Osvaldo Küchle was furious with the way Rubio had lost and it appeared they were going to part ways, but they talked things out and it seems their working relationship will continue.
"We have no exact date or opponent or anything, but the fact is that he will return and at super middleweight. He had gone through many difficulties to make middleweight. He asked us to consider making a fight for him at 168 pounds," said Küchle to ESPN Deportes.
Rubio, 34, has been in professional boxing since May 2000 and has a record of 59 wins, seven losses, one draw and 51 knockouts.
