“Gucci” Manny Flores came in at the weight limit of 118 lbs. ahead of his ten-round bantamweight fight on Thursday night against Jorge Leyva, who came in at 117.2 lbs.
The fight, which headlines a Golden Boy Fight Night card, will be the sixth in seven outings for Flores at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California.
Both looked in tip-top shape, with Flores, 26, of Coachella, California offering a cordial and sportsmanlike handshake during the final stare-down.
Flores enters with a professional record of 19-1 (15 KOs) and is on a four-fight winning streak since his lone career loss to Walter Santibanes in 2023. Leyva, 23, of La Paz, Mexico, enters with a record of 18-3 (13 KOs). He won a unanimous decision over David Carmona in June after losing a split-decision in Argentina to Jose Alberto Arias three months prior. Leyva was on a seven-fight win streak before that loss.
The co-feature will see junior middleweight Grant Flores, the cousin of Manny, in action against Philadelphia’s Laquan Evans. Flores, the 20-year-old from Coachella, California, came in at 154lbs, as did Evans. Flores last fought in January, knocking out David Lobo Ramirez in two rounds. He currently holds a professional record of 8-0 (6 KOs).
Evans is 5-3 (2 KOs) as a professional with his last bout being a split-decision loss to Rasheed Johnson.
It was also announced that Junior welterweight Cayden Griffiths will no longer be on the card, though no additional details were given.
