The World Boxing Association has advised krikya360.com that Lucas Browne was stripped of the WBA's 'regular' heavyweight title after his B-sample tested positive for clenbuterol.

The B-sample was analyzed by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA for its acronym in English), and based on that finding the Championships Committee of the World Boxing Association stripped him of his title, and suspended him for six months in accordance with the rules of the organization

Browne won his WBA belt with a spectacular knockout victory over Ruslan Chagaev in March.

However, the title will not be returned to Chagaev, at least not at the moment, because he recently announced his retirement from the ring. Chagaev will have to advise the WBA of what he plans to do in the future.

If he indeed makes a decision to return to the ring, Chagaev will have 120 days to negotiate a fight with Fres Oquendo, who by court order in the United States is entitled to this world title confrontation.

But if Chagaev intends to stay true to his retirement, then Cuba's Luis Ortiz and Russia's Alexander Ustinov will collide for the vacant 'regular' heavyweight title and then the winner has to make an immediate mandatory against Oquendo. Ortiz currently holds the WBA's interim-championship and recently came to terms for a fight with Ustinov, with a date and location to be announced.

The WBA notes that Browne was only suspended for six months because in a previous test he came up negative as he was heading into the fight.

After his A-sample came up positive, Browne (24-0, 21KOs) made allegations that his food or drink was tainted once he landed in Russia for the contest. According to the WBA, the responsibility lies with Browne and his team on what is ingested prior to the contest.

Tyson Fury holds the WBA's super title at heavyweight, and has a rematch scheduled with Wladimir Klitschko on July 9th. Earlier this year, WBA ordered a tournament to establish one champion, but this recent turn of events will see the entire scenario play out a little longer.
