krikya360.com caught up with Egis Klimas to get an update on the status of a potential fight between two-time Olympic gold medalists Vasyl Lomachenko and Guillermo Rigodeaux. Lomachenko is the WBO featherweight titleholder while Rigondeaux holds the WBO and WBA's super bantamweight belts.
Rigondeaux's team accepted Klimas' (who manages Lomachenko) proposition for the historic showdown but with the condition that the fight take place at a catchweight of 124 pounds with a maximum rehydration clause of 134 pounds.
According to a recent article on krikya360.com, Klimas rejected the 124 pound catchweight but was open to asking Lomachenko about the rehydration clause.
"What I can say is that I talked to Lomachenko (about the rehydration clause)," said Klimas. "Lomachenko is the champion. He holds the WBO title and there are WBO rules. There are commission rules. There are boxing rules. Of course we want the fight but with regular rules."
Even though the rehydration clause was declined, Klimas is confident that an agreement can be reached.
"I think it is very realistic and it would be a very popular fight. It is very interesting. Two-time gold medalists - I think it would be a very good fight," Klimas told krikya360.com.
