There is going to be a rematch of the controversial fight, which took place in Mar de Plata, Argentina, on December 18, where the Argentinean champion, Luis Lazarte, defended his flyweight title of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), against Mexican challenger, Ulysses "Archie" Solis. After a review of the video, the championship committee of the IBF immediately ordered a direct rematch. Solis appeared to be the clear winner after twelve rounds but the fight was scored a majority draw. There were several fouls in the bout, including the champion biting Solis. Somehow two judges saw it 113-113, while the third had it 117-109 for Solis.

The parties, Fernando Beltran (Zanfer Promotionsr) and Osvaldo Rivero (OR Promotions) did not reach an agreement before the Feb. 3 as stipulated by the IBF, so the IBF ordered a purse bid for February 15 at their New Jersey headquarters. The purse bid was held at 12:00 PM, and led by Lindsey Tucker, chairman of the IBF.

Attended were promoter Osvaldo Rivero, matchmaker Richard Rizzo, representing OR Promotions and Carl Moretti, Top Rank VP of behalf of Zanfer.

OR Promotions won the auction with a bid of $300,000. Zanfer Promotions offered $230,000.

The promoter Osvaldo Rivero announced that the fight will be in Argentina, at a venue and date to be announced. Contracts must be signed before March 2 and the fight must be made within 90 days. According to the IBF rules, the stock of $300,000 is divided with 75% for the champion Lazarte ($ 225,000 dollars) and 25% for the challenger Solis ($ 75,000).
