Wembley Stadium, London - For the British cruiserweight title, Lawrence Okolie (10-0, 7 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Matty Askin (23-4-1, 15 KOs). Okolie lost three points for fouls in the contest. The scores were 116-110, 114-112 and 114-113.

Okolie is coming off back to back wins over undefeated fights, with a ten round unanimous decision over Isaac Chamberlain in February and a third round knockout of Luke Watkins in June.

Askin has been on a solid streak since 2015, with wins over Stephen Simmons, Craig Kennedy, Tommy McCarthy, Simon Barclay and others.

Okolie started in a very active manner, throwing his hands and digging to the body. Okolie was staying close to Askin and letting his hands go.

In the second and third, Okolie continued with the same tactics of shooting from the distance and was sticking close when Askin came inside.

The fight was becoming very dirty in the fourth round, with a lot of holding more than a lot of punching.

In the fifth, Okolie lost a point for using his head on the inside. The fight continued to become a holding match with Okolie hitting and then grabbing Askin.

More hitting and holding from Okolie in the sixth round. In the seventh, a good right hand wobbled Askin on the inside. They continued to wrestle around on the inside.

In the eight round, Okolie lost another point which may have been for holding - due to the ugly nature of the fight and execessive holding. Askin unable to change things around in the tenth, as Okolie stuck the same game plan.

The fight continued at any ugly pace with Okilie losing a third point for hitting and holding in the eleventh round. Even with a third deduction, there wasn't much of a change in the ugly action in the twelfth.
