WBA, IBO junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (24-2-2, 14 KOs) had Daniel Jacobs defeating Gennady Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) last month at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Jacobs became the first boxer to extend Golovkin to the full twelve round distance. Going into the the contest, Golovkin had stopped 23 opponents in a row.

After the fight had concluded, Golovkin retained the IBO, WBA, WBC, IBF middleweight belts with a twelve round unanimous decision off of close scores of 115-112, 114-113 and 115-112.

Jacobs believes he was robbed of the win, and should have received the victory.

Lara agrees with him. He scored seven rounds in favor of Jacobs, believing that he did enough to come away with the win.

After watching the contest Jacobs, Lara feels his boxing style will create a lot of problems for Golovkin.

In the two last two years, Lara has been calling for a fight with Golovkin and a rematch with Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

"Canelo is not worth talking about, but we've talked about Golovkin, who was missing against Danny Jacobs - and he lost it for me. He was given a fight, this is a business, and it's difficult to make these fights. [Golovkin is] a strong boxer, but he's not invincible. I saw Jacobs winning seven rounds with good boxing and if [Golovkin] gets into a ring with me he's going to get himself into tremendous problems," Lara told George Ebro.

As far as the May 6th grudge match between Canelo and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. - which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas - Lara is still backing Chavez Jr. to walk away with the win.

"I keep saying that I'm going with Chavez Jr. I see him as being stronger, taller, and the heavier boxer. If he focuses on the fight and leaves everything else to the side, he can beat Canelo," Lara said.
