One final, last ditch attempt to make a fight between the two preeminent light heavyweights, WBO/WBA/IBF champion Sergey Kovalev (28-0-1, 25KOs) and WBC champion Adonis Stevenson (27-1, 22KOs), has fallen through. Main Events is now looking ahead by exploring alternative plans beyond Kovalev's upcoming fight against Jean Pascal this weekend at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Kathy Duva says with a deal unable to be reached with Stevenson for a potential June unification.

Should Kovalev come out victorious on Saturday night and relatively unscathed, 'The Krusher' is heading overseas.

"We're going to Russia. We were planning to do that anyway when I went there last year, that was the plan," Duva told krikya360.com.

"We are now in the position to do it and I have not been talking to the people we would work with in Russia about this till now but we were upfront that we had a contract out to someone, until they come back and tell me yes or no, I really can't start negotiating with somebody else. But I will now go to them after Saturday and we'll put it in place and it'll probably be in June."

Kovalev is already slated to eventually face unbeaten Olympic gold medal winner Andre Ward in November - should Ward come out with a win, and no injuries, for his planned return on March 26th.

As for Stevenson, he will likely go forward with a mandatory defense in April against unbeaten GYM stablemate Eleider Alvarez.
