Andrew Selby will return to the ring very soon but it won’t be against Kevin Satchell.
The Barry flyweight, who won the British title in only his fifth fight back in May, is expected to box again before the year is out.
Selby (5-0, 3 KOs) had been set to face the Liverpudlian, who has a ring record of 16-0 (3 KOs) and is a former British, Commonwealth and European champion in the eight-stone division, after his promotional team Jamie Sanigar and Sanigar Events secured the rights to stage the fight after winning a purse bid.
However, the fight has now been shelved after it was revealed that Satchell, who most recently fought in his home city and secured a six-round points victory over Brett Fidoe in June, had withdrawn from the proposed clash.
The news of Satchell’s withdrawal was disclosed by Sanigar, who took to Twitter to confirm it, while hinting that details of the 27-year-old’s next fight are imminent.
Andy Ayling, who works with Frank Warren, has said on Facebook that 'Satch' "has a final eliminator for a world title."
Further details will be revealed in due course.
