WBC Super Middleweight Champion Emeritus Mikkel Kessler (44-2, 33 KOs) has moved his training camp to Southern Spain. Together with his trainer Jimmy Montoya, the Viking Warrior will continue the preparation for the November 5 clash against WBO Champion Robert Stieglitz (40-2, 23 KOs) in the Spanish sun.
“Denmark has been blessed with a lot of great things – great people, a great capital and some great boxers. But it has not always been blessed with great weather,” Montoya said. “It will be good to train outside in the sun for a couple of days. It´s a very long training camp so it´s nice to get out and about and do something different from the usual routine.”
Montoya said he was pleased with Kessler´s preparation. “I know this kid for a long time,” he added. “Trust me, the world has not seen the best of him yet. He did well against (Carl) Froch and he did well against (Mehdi) Bouadla, but when he steps through the ropes against Stieglitz, he will be even better.”
