Super middleweight Mikkel Kessler (43-2, 32 KOs) sat ringside at the Bell Centre in Montreal, as Lucian Bute retained his IBF title for the seventh time with a ten round knockout of Brian Magee. Last year, Kessler withdrew from the Super Six Boxing Classic with an eye injury. He says the injury is now healed and it's finally time for a mega-bout with Bute.

"It was a serious injury. I was seeing double, but my right eye has recovered. Certainly, I want to face Bute. He had told me that when I beat [Eric] Lucas seven years ago, he wanted to fight me," Kessler said.

The "Viking Warrior" wants to fight Bute and then he wants to challenge the winner of the Super Six tournament.

Before Bute or the Super Six winner, Kessler will return before the summer with an interim-bout to shake off the rust.

"We had our first discussion with InterBox. However there are still a lot of negotiating to be done. Montreal and Copenhagen are seriously being considered [for the fight], but a neutral site in the United States, like New York, is also possible. The "Viking Warrior" is certainly willing to travel," said Kalle Sauerland of Sauerland Event, the promoter of Kessler. "In two weeks, we will announce his comeback fight. It will probably take place before the summer."

Renan St-Juste (22-2-1, 15 KOs) has been mentioned as a possible comeback opponent for Kessler. Sauerland confirms that St-Juste is certainly a candidate but only one of the possible names on their list. St-Juste was going to fight on the Bute-Magee undercard. He withdrew a few days ago with an illness.

"He is still on the list. We would have liked to see St-Juste in action, but we'll settle for a DVD," Sauerland said.
