Sun Bowl, El Paso, Texas - WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-0-1, 32KOs) stopped Andy Lee (28-2, 20KOs) in the seventh round.
Lee started the fight by shooting a good jab to keep Chavez on the outside. In the second, Lee landed several hard punches but Chavez continued to come forward and he was walking through Lee's shots. They were trading very big shots at the end of the fourth. Chavez was starting to hurt Lee in the fifth with hard punches to the head and body.
Chavez was working Lee over in the sixth and started leaning on Lee in the seventh and working over his body with hard hooks. As Lee was against the ropes, Chavez drilled him with a massive bomb and then worked him over with combinations until referee Laurence Cole stepped in to wave it off. Lee was out on his feet when the fight was stopped.
