The president of the Boxing Commission of Puerto Rico, Dommys Delgado, is not ruling out the possiblity of sanctions against Juan Manuel Lopez for the Puerto Rican's star slanderous attack on referee Roberto Ramirez Sr.

During the live Showtime telecast, Lopez (31-2, 28KOs) verbally attacked the referee for stopping the fight with Orlando Salido in the tenth round. Juanma was knocked down in the round, struggled to get up and his legs were wobbling bad at the time of the stoppage.

As he was being interviewed after the fight, Lopez claimed Ramirez stopped the fight because he was "a gambler" and had a "gambling problem" - hinting that Ramirez had a financial stake in the outcome. Lopez claimed that he warned the local commission about Ramirez's gambling problem and wanted him removed as the referee.

"What happened last night was an unfair vicious attack against the referee, the boxing commission and everyone involved in boxing in Puerto Rico. I know that Juanma was frustrated after the loss, but we can not allow [someone] to throw accusations like that, every time you lose or things don't go the way you wanted," Delgado told Les Jiminez.

"[His punishment] could be anything from a public reprimand to a license suspension. But it will depend on many things. I hope to meet with the committee this week to address the issue."

If Lopez issues a public apology to Ramirez, the issue would likely be solved with the Puerto Rican commission.
