Former world champion Juan Carlos Reveco (36-3, 19KOs) is planning to move up in weight to the super flyweight limit of 115-pounds.

Reveco, a former champion at junior flyweight and flyweight, lost his title in a close twelve round majority decision to Kazuto Ioka last April in Japan.

Because there was some controversy in the first meeting, the WBA ordered an immediate rematch. The two fighters collided on December 31, once again in Osaka, Japan. This time, in a very close contest, Reveco faded down the stretch and Ioka stopped him in the eleventh round. 

Reveco admits that he struggled to make weight for the fight with Ioka. He says it weakened him significantly and he came into the fight feeling physically drained. He feels a move up in weight will be better for his body, his mental state and he feels the poundage will make him stronger.

"To be honest, I can not make the weight division [of 112-pounds] and prior to the fight with Ioka I got dehydrated lot and came into the fight without any strength. It was the first time I was knocked out and he didn't even hit me a lot," Reveco said.

"The idea is to rise back up and move up a division, so I can fight without having to suffer so much [to make the weight] and get stronger, since I had failed to recover after weighing in accordingly."

Reveco will look to make his debut at the new weight in the coming months. A title win at the new weight would make Reveco a three division world champion.
