Former champion Joseph Agbeko (28-4, 22KOs) read a recent report on krikya360.com where promoter Vladimir Hyrunov revealed that he is very interested in securing Agbeko for super bantamweight Alexander Bakhtin (30-0, 11KOs).
Bahktin is going to defend his IBO championship on March 31 in Balashikha, Russia. Agbeko recently became a promotional free agent and plans to come back on February 22nd against Luis Melendez for the vacant IBO title, at bantamweight, at the Accra Sports Stadium in Accra, Ghana.
Agbeko likes the idea of facing Bahktin and doesn't have a problem as long as the terms are satisfactory.
"My doors are open to any boxer after my comeback fight in Ghana on the 22nd of February. I want to be very busy in the ring this year. My target is to get a shot at any top boxer at 122 pounds including Nonito Donaire, Guillermo Rigodeaux and Abner Mares. There's no harm in taking a fight with Alexander Bakhtin before taking a shot on the top guys," Agbeko said.
"Bakhtin is a very good and strong boxer and very promising. I think he will make a good statement for me to prove to the World that I am really back for the big shots. I believe if negotiations goes well with my local promotional company called Fresh King Entertainment, and Vladimir Hyrunov who promotes Bakhtin, then the fight can happen."
