ProBox TV returns this week with a new installment of “Wednesday Night Fights.”

The card is headlined by an interesting crossroads battle at lightweight. Joseph Adorno (18-3-2, 15 KOs) and former featherweight titleholder Nicholas Walters (28-1-1, 22 KOs) will square off in a 10-round main event, with the WBA Continental-Americas belt on the line.

How Does Joseph Adorno Rate?

At just 24, Adorno has already found himself in a crossroads fight. Formerly a high-profile amateur, he first tasted defeat as a pro against Michel Rivera, in 2022. After breaking away from longtime promoter Top Rank, Adorno began fighting on Premier Boxing Champions cards, returning at lightweight and later moving up to junior welterweight. Now back at lightweight, he seeks to regain the momentum he lost in back-to-back losses to Elvis Rodriguez and Edwin De Los Santos last year.

Does Nicholas Walters Still Have It?

In 2014, Walters was at the top of his game. Having knocked out Nonito Donaire, he appeared to be a breakout star, landing an HBO main event against Miguel Marriaga at New York’s Madison Square Garden. But it all came crashing down after his stoppage loss to Vasiliy Lomachenko in 2016. Walters stayed out of the ring for more than six years before returning last year with a pair of comeback fights against limited opponents in Colombia.

The big question, of course, is this: At age 38 and after all that time away, does Walters still have it? He trains beside promising Emiliano Moreno, and is coached by the fighter’s father, Jaime Moreno. But the reality is that no one – perhaps even Walters himself – has any clue what, if anything, Walters has left.

Adorno-Walters Odds and Betting Options

Per SportsBetting.AG, Adorno is the favorite at -400. Walters is the underdog at +300. The over/under for total rounds is set at 8.5 rounds. The over is set at -125, with the under at -105.

Adorno-Walters Prediction

Given Walters’ extended layoff, trying to pin down his potential for Wednesday is all guesswork. Adorno has been active, but he has posted mixed results experimenting in various weight classes. The odds favor Adorno, the younger fighter, but there are too many variables that will dictate the fitness and state of mind of each fighter to make an informed prediction.

Start Time

The televised card begins Wednesday at 8 p.m. EST.
