Flyweight prospect Joselito Velazquez remained unbeaten Saturday night, defeating Brandon Gallardo by unanimous decision at the TV Azteca Studios in Mexico City.
All three judges scored the bout 98-92 in favor of Velazquez, who improves to 13-0, 9 knockouts.
Velazquez, who resides in Cancun, Mexico, had not fought since defeating Adrian Curiel by unanimous decision on November 30.
Gallegos accepted the fight after original opponent Alejandro Villaseñor withdrew earlier during the week.
Gallegos was game, but Velazquez, who represented Mexico at the 2016 Olympic Games, was the more-effective fighter throughout most of the fight. Velazquez initiated exchanges, beating Gallegos to the punch with lead and counter right hands to the head.
Velazquez is promoted by Zanfer Promotions and managed by Frank Espinoza.
Gallegos, who resides in Mexico City, drops to 3-2-1, 1 KO.
In middleweight action, Brandon Perez (3-1-1) defeated Ruben Orozco (8-2, 5 KOs) by unanimous decision. Perez has now won his last three bouts.
In flyweight action, Carlos Mejia defeated Jose Marquez (4-3, 3 KOs) by unanimous decision. Mejia, who improves to 5-1, 1 KO, has now won his last three bouts.
Junior lightweight Pedro Bernal defeated Carlos Reyes (1-3) by unanimous decision to improve to 6-1-2, 3 KOs.
