CHANDLER, Ariz. – Showdown Promotions and Top Rank, Inc. are thrilled to announce undefeated Phoenix prospect Jose Benavidez Jr. (10-0, 9 KOs) will headline his first Arizona show on Saturday, June 11, at Wild Horse Pass Casino’s gorgeous Ovations Live Showroom Theater.
Set to increase his unbeaten streak to 11 as part of the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley Showtime PPV undercard on May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Benavidez – who has defeated junior welterweight opponents in Texas, Illinois and Nevada – will return to his home state of Arizona a conqueror even before the opening bell rings in June.
Previously denied an opportunity to perform before his rabid following in the Grand Canyon State, Benavidez is set to blow the roof off the Wild Horse Pass under the Showdown Promotions banner, in association with Top Rank, Inc.. Where other promoters have hesitated to make shows in the desert, Showdown Promotions, with its insider knowledge of Arizona’s fight scene and culture, is ready to get it on.
“I can’t tell you how excited we are to be working with Top Rank to bring Jose to Arizona,” Showdown Promotions’ Gerry Truax said. “We’re coming back to Wild Horse Pass Casino, and we’re bringing our A-game. Imagine, one of boxing’s most exciting prospects is fighting for the first time at home. We’re so proud to be involved.”
Joining what is certain to be an expertly crafted undercard is fellow undefeated Phoenix prospect Emilio Garcia. “Milo Time,” as he’s known in gyms throughout Arizona, actually shares the same trainer as Benavidez. Both prospects train under the tutelage of Jose Benavidez Sr.
June promises to be a big month in the reemergence of Arizona boxing! Wild Horse Pass Casino, which hosted Showdown Promotions’ extremely successful Arizona debut in 2009, will be well positioned to become the Mecca of prizefighting in the Grand Canyon State.
