Junior middleweight contender Jorge "Destroyer" Melendez will be traveling to California on Monday. He will be reporting to renowned Mexican trainer Robert Garcia. In his last two fights Melendez was under the tutelage of former world champion Wilfredo Vazquez Sr.  

 

In addition to Garcia in his corner, "Destroyer" will also work with fitness coach Alex Ariza who in the past has worked with Amir Khan , Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Manny Pacquiao  - and now works with Mikey Garcia, Marcos Maidana and Thomas Dulorme. 

 

Melendez will return to the ring on June 7 at Madison Square Garden in New York where he will face former world champion Yuri Foreman as part of the undercard of the fight between Miguel Cotto and Sergio Martinez for the WBC middleweight crown.

 

Melendez belongs to the company of former world champion Miguel Cotto, Miguel Cotto Promotions.
