Jono Carroll has vowed that Andy Vences is in for a horrible night’s work when they collide for the vacant WBC International Silver super-featherweight title on June 19.

The fight will take place on the Triller event at the LoanDepot Park in Miami, Florida, on the undercard of the world lightweight title fight between Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jnr.

Carroll (19-2-1, 5 KOs) is extremely confident of getting his hand raised against Vences (23-2-1, 12 KOs), and hopes that can lead to a potential showdown with either Oscar Valdez or JoJo Diaz.

Carroll said: “Andy can say what he wants, but he’s in for a horrible night’s work. When you get tired, fatigued and the pressure comes on, you always fall into old habits. He has a lot of bad habits and that’s what I truly believe I will expose.

“If I’m at the top of my game then nobody beats me. Not just Andy, but the likes of Oscar Valdez and JoJo Diaz too. Mentally my vision is still the same, I want the world titles and I want to face those big names.

“I truly believe that on my day I can mix it with anybody. After I win this I would love to face Valdez, or somebody like Diaz. Those fights excite me.

“I always prepare to be the best version of myself. I’ve worked hard and in this camp I’ve left no stone unturned. I’ve made sure that I won’t make the same mistake as the Maxi Hughes fight.

“A lot of things in camp didn’t go right for that fight, plus I went from a packed arena topping the stage against Scott Quigg to fighting in an empty hall with no fans due to COVID, so it was a weird shock to the system.

“It felt like a spar and I didn’t have the hunger and drive that I had in previous fights, but I’ve gone back to the drawing board and I have learned. If you don’t learn then the devil will re-appear in different forms. I’m a better fighter for it now and it gave me a valuable lesson.”
