Former two division world champion Jhonny Gonzalez (61-10, 51 KOs) picked up another victory on Saturday night, when he stopped Christopher Martin (29--3, 9 KOs) with an eleventh round TKO in a super featherweight encounter at the Deportivo Agustin Ramos Millan, in Toluca, Mexico. Gonzalez retains the WBC International championship.

Gonzalez dominated the action from the very beginning. He landed a good uppercut that dropped Martin in the fifth. In the ninth, Gonzalez punished Martin and had him hurt with a hard hook to the liver. Martin managed to stay on his feet, but not for long as he was dropped once again in the tenth. Martin elected not to come out for the eleventh.

Jhonny's ultimate aim is to fight for the green and gold World Boxing Council super featherweight title. At last week's WBC press conference he was sitting beside the champ Francisco Vargas, who also happens to be a good friend.

Jhonny said he would relish a chance for competition, unfortunately not friendly for its duration, but it's arrangement is a question for the negotiation abilities of opposing promoters.

In the co-feature, former IBF junior middleweight champion “King” Carlos Molina (26-6-2, 8 KOs) won a close eight round split decision against Javier Prieto (27-9-2, 20 KOs). The scores saw one judge go 77-75 for Prieto, with the remaining judges having it 78-74, 77-75 for Molina.

Molina, now fighting as a welterweight, struggled in the contest. The fight was very close and fought on even terms for the most part, but it was Molina who landed the better punches and displayed the overall better technique.
