krikya360.com recently caught up with undefeated junior welterweight prospect Jessie Vargas who is just days away from challenging for his first world title.  On April 12th he will face WBA/IBO junior welterweight champion Khabib Allkhverdiev on the Manny Pacquiao-Tim Bradley televised pay-per-view undercard in Las Vegas.

Vargas, who now trains under the tutelage of Ismael Salas, said that he has had a great training camp and that he can't wait for fight night.  Salas also trains former champion Jorge Linares and has trained many other champions.

"I've had a great camp. This training camp has been different.  I have been so entertained in the gym it has made me interest to go in the gym.  I have a great trainer in Ismael Salas and the sparring partners have helped me a lot.  Everything went great.  I wish the fight was tomorrow, I wish it was tonight.  I am ready to go," said Vargas.

The Las Vegas based fighter began his career as a junior welterweight but has campaigned as a welterweight for his past six fights.  He said that he is moving back down because he feels stronger at the lower weight and that he now knows how to lose the weight properly.

"I didn't have the knowledge on how to lose the weight properly before and now I do.  I am feeling great.  I am walking around in the welterweight division right now so it is going great," Vargas stated about ten days before fight night.

Vargas is very thankful that the fight is taking place in his hometown and finished our interview by saying that there is no way that Khabib is going to leave with his belts.

"I am happy and very excited.  I can't explain how I feel but that might be part of the reason why I am working so hard.  Just knowing that I am fighting for a title.

"This guy is in my town so I am not going to let him come here and look good.  Those belts are staying right here in Vegas then afterwards we are going to celebrate here with my fans," Vargas told krikya360.com.
