Jake Harrison claimed the first title of his promising stint in the pro game with a stoppage.
The Liverpudlian took on a fellow Scouser in the shape of Jack Dwyer on Saturday night in the home city of the pair.
Harrison, who boxes out of Gemini, met Dwyer for the vacant Central Area bantamweight title on a VIP Boxing-promoted card.
The show, aired exclusively live on VIP Boxing’s YouTube channel, was in association with Trinity Entertainment and featured five fights at the newly-renovated Grand Central Hall.
Harrison, who moved to 8-0 with the emphatic one-sided display, began the contest on the front foot and didn’t allow 26-year-old Dwyer –– who slipped to 2-5-1 in defeat –– to gain any kind of ground in the early stages.
That pattern continued throughout the fight, with ‘The Baby-Faced Assassin’ hesitant, until a pinpoint right hook forced the man in the blue shorts, trimmed with yellow, onto his heels.
From there, with Harrison unleashing a barrage of unanswered shots, it was a matter of time before the referee Darren Sarginson stepped between the pair and the ending eventually came midway through the third.
Meanwhile, Paddy Lacey moved to 9-0 as he warmed up for his first eight-round contest next month.
The 30-year-old will box on October 21, at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, as part of the supporting cast to Jack Catterall’s WBA Inter-Continental super-lightweight title defence against Jorge Linares, exclusively live on DAZN.
Lacey got four rounds in beforehand, though, snapping six months of inactivity by claiming a 40-36 win over Spanish-based Mexican Fernando Valencia.
There were wins, too, for Ryan Dickens, Brandon Daord and Leon Cooney, the latter of whom scored a second-round stoppage after dropping his opponent, Declan Dee, twice.
