Jacob Robinson produced a scintillating display to stop his latest opponent and get another win.
The son of former world champion Steve is targeting a Welsh title crack soon and seemed to have definitely outlined his credentials for a shot at the belt with his outing on Friday night.
Robinson, 24, was in control against Jules Phillips at the Vale Sports Arena in Cardiff, exclusively live on iFL TV.
And then, as part of the MTK Global card billed ‘New Beginnings’, ‘Baby’ Jake unleashed a left hand and right hook combination which sent Phillips, who made his debut two years ago, falling face first to the canvas.
The victor, who paced the ring with delight once he had realised that Phillips was okay after receiving medical attention, was awarded the win after referee Martin Williams ended the fight after two minutes and five seconds of the fifth round.
Phillips was given oxygen in the ring before leaving under his own steam and being taken to hospital after the fight.
Elsewhere, Craig Evans got back to winning ways after eight months out of the ring.
The Blackwood man, who is now training with Gavin Rees, outpointed Jordan Ellison by 60 points to 55 to get back in the win column after an unsuccessful world title eliminator challenge against Roman Andreev.
There was a peculiar interruption when Ellison’s glove split in the sixth round, resulting in a replacement being sought at ringside.
Evans always had the first and last say in the exchanges but will know there was a lot left in the locker as he looks to get back out again and return to title contention sooner rather than later.
Meanwhile, Lance Cooksey took out Jamie Speight inside a minute.
The former two-time English title challenger was obliterated after just 54 seconds of the opener by the undefeated Cooksey, who stunned him with a left hook before a barrage of unanswered shots saw referee Chris Jones left with little option but to stop the action.
Cooksey, with the win, moved to 7-0 with his first stoppage and follows in the footsteps of a fellow Welshman in new Commonwealth lightweight champion Joe Cordina as another man to take out Southern Area champion Speight inside three minutes.
Speight is due to defend his belt against Ryan Wheeler in October, though that fight may now be in doubt.
JJ Evans extended his unbeaten streak with a controlled decision win over Dwain Grant.
The 22-year-old Welshman, cousin of Olympic silver medallist Fred Evans, won 10 Welsh titles as an amateur and is keen replicate the achievement in the professional code.
He went some way to ensuring that would still be possible by securing a 40-37 victory to move to 7-0.
In the show’s opener, Jermaine Asare ended the challenge of Przemyslaw Binienda in double-quick time.
The 34-year-old Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, trained by Darren Wilson, took his time in the opening minute and eased his way in to proceedings, but he then detonated a right cross, left hook combination that left the visitor stricken and forced the referee to Reece Carter to dispense of the count before ending the action inside the first.
But the show was hit with a double blow before it had even started as Sean McGoldrick and Maredudd Thomas both had their appearances cancelled due to their Nicaraguan opponents being detained by immigration officials at Bristol Airport.
