Yoshiki Takei’s WBO bantamweight title defense against Yuttapong Tongdee on January 24 has been postponed after Takei injured a shoulder.

Takei (right in the picture) and Tongdee was moved to January 24 after Sam Goodman was cut in sparring and his challenge of Naoya Inoue was moved from December 24 to January 24.

Takei’s promoter Hideyuki Ohashi said that the bout would likely be rescheduled for April or May.

“I apologize for causing this trouble,” said Takei, according to Kyodo News. “I hope to come back stronger from this.”

Ohashi, who also promotes Naoya Inoue, said that Inoue is on course to fight three times in 2025, but that Junto Nakatani does not figure in his plans.

“There won't be four fights next year,” said Ohashi. “December isn't scheduled because it wasn't originally scheduled. There’s no Nakatani either.
