Promoter Eddie Hearn has made it known that a rematch between Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora is still at the top of his list to headline an upcoming card on December 22.

The two heavyweights fought in a wild twelve round war in December of 2016, with Whyte walking away with a very close split decision win - but there were many who felt that Chisora had done enough to edge out a win.

Back in July, Chisora pulled off a spectacular come from behind win when he knocked out highly ranked Carlos Takam in the eight round at the O2 Arena in London. In the main event of the same card, Whyte survived near disaster in the twelfth and final round to secure a twelve round unanimous decision over former WBO world champion Joseph Parker.

But in recent weeks, Cuban puncher Luis Ortiz has been calling for a showdown with Whyte.

The WBC had previously ordered them to face each other in a final eliminator, with Whyte going in a different direction by facing Parker.

The sanctioning body is still willing to sanction that fight as a final eliminator, with the winner being guaranteed a crack at current beltholder Deontay Wilder.

Hearn, who promotes both Whyte and Chisora, is not convinced that Ortiz is actually willing to travel over to the UK for the fight. He feels Ortiz is trying to create noise for his upcoming return, also in December.

"Chisora is still definitely the front-runner," Hearn exclusively told Sky Sports.

"Ortiz is scheduled to fight on the Wilder-Fury card on December 1 and wanted to make some noise by saying, 'I want to fight Dillian Whyte.' Maybe he will. Chisora is a big fight and one we've been working on for a while.

"Dillian Whyte will be boxing December 22, whatever happens, and I think it will be against Chisora."
