Former cruiserweight champ Danny Green has dismissed the recent comments from promoter Gary Shaw, who says the Australian star wants nothing to do with another fight against Antonio Tarver. Green lost his IBO belt when Tarver took him out in nine rounds in July.

“Danny Green won’t fight Antonio Tarver because Danny Green doesn’t want to fight Antonio Tarver,” Shaw said. “It’s exactly why he’s started talking up a fight in the States… Danny Green couldn’t beat Antonio Tarver at home. How’s he going to beat him in America?”

But Green claims Shaw is wrong about the contract terms, relating to the rematch clause which the Australian star is going to exercise.

“It’s our discretion where the rematch takes place,” Green told the Western Australian. “I’m not sure of Gary Shaw’s involvement (with Tarver) because he wasn’t involved in the last fight. I’m not sure why he’s piped up. I guess everyone loves a winner, so Gary’s back on board.”

“There is a whole myriad of people, who deal with Antonio and his business, and that’s why it’s always very confusing. It’s very difficult to deal with these people.”
