Promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions is expected Gennady "GGG" Golovkin's violent streak of knockouts to continue for a long time.
Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs) has knocked out his last 18 opponents. He returns on February 21 in Monaco, where he will defend his WBA/IBO/WBC interim-middleweight titles against Martin Murray.
Back in the 80's, heavyweight great Mike Tyson had his own violent streak of knockouts, and many opponents were terrified before they even entered the ring. Loeffler feels his fighter is creating the same effect with his growing streak of damage.
"I think Gennady with his knockouts is kind of a Mike Tyson effect. The opponents get intimidated even before they get in the ring. I don't think Martin Murray will be intimidated at all. But it's part of Gennady's legacy right now - the knockout streak that he has. 18 straight knockouts as world champion is really unprecedented. I see that streak continuing for a long time," Loeffler told krikya360.com.
