Copper Box, London - For the IBF super featherweight championship, Gervonta Davis (18-0, 17 KOs) retained his belt by stopping previously undefeated mandatory challenger Liam Walsh (21-1, 14 KOs) in three rounds.

This was Davis' first defense since capturing the world title from Jose Pedraza with a knockout victory at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Davis came out in the first round with a sharp jab that was setting up other punches in the first round. He was pushing Walsh back and controlling the pace. Walsh started positioning himself in the second, throwing his own jab and picking his spots. Davis put together a good series of shots in return. The second seemed a lot closer, but Davis landed the harder and crisper shots.

In the third, Davis clipped Walsh with a big shot and he quickly saw that Walsh's legs had buckled and he was stumbling a bit. At that point Davis jumped on him and followed up with an arsenal of big shots to get Walsh in all sorts of trouble.

Davis then crushed him with accurate big shots that finally dropped the British challenger. Walsh made it up, but he was still wobbling around and couldn't get his feet under him. He seemed very hurt and could have been stopped at that point, but the referee allowed it to continue. Davis would not allow him to get off the hook.

The champion continued to batter him with a few more big shots until the referee Michael Alexander jumped in to wave off the fight.
