Wembley Arena in London, United Kingdom. - In the third of four quarterfinals bouts in the super middleweight division of the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) tournament, the WBSS' number one seed at 168,  World Boxing Association (WBA) super middleweight champion "Saint" George Groves (27-3, 20 KOs) knocked out previously undefeated challenger Jamie Cox (24-1, 13 KOs) in the fourth round.

Groves will now advance to the WBSS semifinals to face another Brit, IBO champion Chris "Next Gen" Eubank Jr. (26-1, 20 KOs), who knocked out previously undefeated Avni Yildirim in the third round of last Saturday's quarterfinals fight in Germany. The vs. Eubank fight is being targeted for a slot in January, with the 20th of that month as the current tentative date.

They both started the fight in a tentative manner, feeling each other out. Groves was taking his time, and landing accurate punches while Cox was coming in and not being able to land much in return. At the end of the first, Cox landed a huge left hand managed to buckle Groves a bit before landing a few more shots.

Both of them came out swinging in the second round, with Cox trapping Groves against the ropes and unloading with punches. Groves was getting tagged and forced to fight his way out of trouble more than once. Cox himself got tagged and shaken up by some right hands, but decided to fight back rather than hold.

Groves was landing the better and hard shots in the third, connecting well on Cox - who was walking on to punches and falling in. The right hands were finding their mark on Cox.

They went back to trading hard shots in the fourth. Cox was doing better with connecting, but Groves was also getting off with his hard shots. During an exchange of punches, a big shot to the body sent Cox down. Cox was in obvious pain and he stayed down on the mat for the full count of ten.
