Gavin McDonnell is confident of extending his undefeated record when he defends his European super bantamweight title against Jeremy Parodi next month, live on Sky Sports.

The Doncaster fighter makes the first defence of the title against the experienced Frenchman at the Sheffield Arena on October 24.

McDonnell defeated Ukrainian Oleksandr Yegorov at the same venue in March to win the vacant belt with his 13th straight win.

"My preparation is going fantastic, I've had a long camp for this one," McDonnell told Sky Sports News HQ.

"I'm in great shape, my weight is fantastic, three weeks to go and I'm back in that square circle."

Parodi, 28, has won 37 of his 40 fights, losing just twice including a stoppage defeat to IBF champion Carl Frampton two years ago.

Frampton, who was defending the European title in a fight which was billed an IBF eliminator, dominated Parodi for six rounds before stopping him with a body shot at Belfast's Odyssey Arena.

"I don't know too much about him to be honest, he's a lot shorter than me. I've seen a lot of the Frampton fight but you can't really get too much from that.

"But if I turn up on fight night and do what I've got to do, I can't see nothing but a win.

"I never focus too much on my opponent, I take a little look to see what they are about and that they are in there to fight.

"I've got what it takes to beat him and on fight night I'll show that."

McDonnell's twin brother Jamie currently holds the WBA bantamweight title and Gavin believes he can following in his sibling's footsteps.

"I genuinely believe I will be a world champion," added McDonnell. "A couple of good experienced fights at this level, like Parodi, who has only lost two in 40, a good solid operator.

"A couple of good fights like this and I'll be ready."
