Olympic gold medal winner Yuriorkis Gamboa (23-0, 16KOs) is planning to have a big run in 2014, starting with a potential fight against two-division champion Mikey Garcia. Gamboa has been inactive since leaving his old promoter, Top Rank, and signing a new deal with rapper 50 Cent, who runs SMS Promotions.

Gamboa partially blames his inactivity on his old promoter, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum. The Cuban fighter claims that Arum roadblocked his attempts to get back on the network.

The two had a bad falling out in 2012, when Gamboa walked away from a planned HBO televised main event against Top Rank fighter Brandon Rios. Top Rank sued Gamboa for breach of contract, but then a deal was made where 50 Cent purchased his contract.

But now the network wants to have him back, in a fight with Garcia. 50 Cent and Top Rank are working out the details.

"[I confronted Garcia in New York] to let the world know that we are ready to face him whenever he wants. We've been looking for this fight for a while because we believe that the fans deserve it. From me there are excuses not to do it. We needed to tell him that face to face,'' Gamboa told George Ebro.

"Bob Arum had closed the doors, prevented us from working with HBO. He knows that no one will have an easy fight against me, but I thank God that the roads will open up. When we came out of the contract, it was not a good situation [with Arum]. And with Arena Box as well. They have a lot of relationships and they conspired to cut my career short, because they knew that they wouldn't benefit if I continue being the star that I am," Gamboa said.

"I never signed a contract for Rios. They had to give me what I was worth. They were offering me money that [was below my value], $750,000. Then I gave my word to Floyd Mayweather [to work with him]. When people saw that I wasn't going to fight [Rios], Arum began to complain and offered me more money, but I had already given my word to Mayweather."
