Frank Warren, promoter for undefeated heavyweight contender Joe Joyce, says his boxer will be keeping a very close eye on the upcoming mandatory fight between IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO champion Anthony Joshua and challenger Oleksandr Usyk.

The fight is being positioned to take place on September 25 in the UK.

Joyce will return to action on July 24th, when he faces veteran Carlos Takam.

The Olympic silver medal winner holds the WBO's number two ranking - and he will eventually be installed as the mandatory challenger to the Joshua-Usyk winner.

Another boxer in Warren's stable, WBC world champion Tyson Fury, will also return on July 24, in a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder.

Provided both Fury and Joshua are victorious, they will face each other in a full division unification.

"Watford’s Anthony Joshua looks set to defend his WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF heavyweight titles against the tricky southpaw from Kiev, Oleksandr Usyk, in September. Originally the plan was for AJ to be defending those belts against the WBC Champion, and No.1 heavyweight in the world, Tyson Fury. That didn’t happen due to legal reasons and now both men have tricky bout’s lined up in Usyk and Deontay Wilder respectively," Warren said to The Daily Star.

"I have full confidence in Tyson’s ability to do a job on Wilder again but I’m less sure that AJ can overcome the obstacle in front of him. Usyk conquered the world at cruiserweight, unifying all the belts, and since moving up to heavyweight has remained unbeaten.

"I know another big heavyweight who will be keeping a close eye on that clash – ‘Juggernaut’ Joe Joyce. He fights Carlos Takam at The SSE Arena, Wembley, on July 24 and should he win, he’ll be installed as the mandatory challenger for the winner of Joshua-Usyk."
