Francis Ngannou, the newly crowned UFC heavyweight champion, tells TMZ Sports that he's very serious about the scenario of boxing WBC world champion Tyson Fury.
Before UFC 260, then UFC champion Stipe Miocic expressed his interest in having a boxing match with Fury or unified champion Anthony Joshua.
But then Ngannou delivered a brutal knockout, in two rounds, when he faced Miocic in the ring.
Ngannou, who actually had dreams of becoming a boxer, would love to face Fury in a sanctioned fight.
"Absolutely. I'm open to that. Remember boxing was my primary dream and I still have the fire, the dream inside me and I believe at some point, I'm gonna make a step," Ngannou said.
Back in August of 2017, UFC superstar Conor McGregor made his pro boxing debut in a fight with five division world champion Floyd Mayweather.
Mayweather broke down and stopped McGregor in ten rounds at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The contest was a tremendous financial success and generated over 4 million buys on pay-per-view.
At 6'4 and 263-pounds, Ngannou has the size and the power to be a threat to any fighter.
He has no interest in having an exhibition fight with someone like Mike Tyson, but a fight with Fury for the WBC title is something he would certainly do.
"I don't want to fight Mike Tyson but I would like to fight another heavyweight boxer as such as Tyson Fury," Ngannou said.
UFC President Dana White is looking to make the biggest fight possible for Ngannou. The biggest PPV bout in MMA, at the moment, is a clash between Jon Jones and Ngannou. However, Jones and White are far apart on the monetary terms for such a fight.
