Undisputed super middleweight world champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn will be looking for a measure of revenge when she faces Savannah Marshall on Saturday night in Manchester.

Last year, Marshall lost a ten round unanimous decision in her undisputed middleweight bout with career rival Claressa Shields.

That contest had the often-repeated back story of how Marshall defeated Shields in the amateurs - which was the only defeat Shields suffered as an amateur or professional.

The same back story rings true for Crews-Dezurn, who wants to avenge an amateur loss that she suffered to Marhsall at the 2011 Olympic Test Event at the ExCel Arena in London.

"I'm bitter about the decision," Crews-Dezrurn told Sky Sports. "Savannah did what she can do, which was her best and she can't control the people pushing the button. But if you feel like you can do what you think you did then, do it again now. Do it. I know in my heart I won that fight.

"I know that [loss] changed the whole trajectory of my amateur career. Because I fought her before Claressa and I was the top seed in America and me coming up short against her didn't look good. I'm not saying it let Claressa [in] but it just kind of made me look like I was incompetent to represent the United States, which wasn't the case because after the Olympic trials [at the World Championships], in the same tournament Savannah beat Claressa in, I medalled silver."

Marshall moved up in weight after tasting her first defeat.

Crews-Dezurn lost her pro debut bout in 2016, at the hands of Shields. The two are now close friends.

Last year, the once-beaten fighter became the undisputed world champion at super middleweight.

Now her goal is to settle an old score.

"It's going to be payback and getting paid. You ain't got nothing. I've got it all and I'm going to keep it," Crews-Dezurn said.
