Texas Southern University HP&E Arena in Houston, Texas - O’Shanique Foster (4-0, 2 KOs) from Orange, TX over Aaron Anderson (2-26) from Knoxville, TN.
In his first fight of 2013, Foster’s better technical skills and fast hands showed in getting in four rounds of work after some time out of the ring, landing crisply and at times taking the wind from his opponent with bodyshots on his way to a Unanimous Decision 40-36 on all three judges’ cards.
Raymond “Lucky” Brown (3-2, 1 KO) from Houston, TX over Bobbie Britton (0-1) from Shreveport, LA.
Lucky from nearby South Park neighborhood overwhelmed and knocked down Britton three times to win via technical knockout at 2:59 in first round.
Raul Salazar (1-0) from Houston, TX over Willie Miller (0-6) from Ft. Worth.
Salazar started tentatively but then began outworking Miller who gassed out in the 3rd round. After gaining an extended rest period following an alleged low blow, an energized Miller made for a good back and forth finish to the final round. Salazar wins his debut via Unanimous Decision scored 39-37 by Yeats, and 40-36 by both Ralston & Yoh.
Jonathan O’Neal (1-1) from Longview, TX over Braulio Mireles (0-1) from Houston, TX.
Cutting his teeth in the professional ranks, Mireles had trouble early getting inside O’Neal’s longer reach, and then got caught midway thru the first round and momentarily stunned with a left-right combo. Feeling superior the opponent from Northeast Texas found his range in the second and the rookie hadn’t yet learned how to break through. Mireles got clipped on the chin in the third causing a brief stanky leg, and then went down later in the round for a scored knockdown. O’Neal sensing victory and Mireles sensing desperation made for an action final round and exciting finish. All four judges saw it as a shutout, 40-35 Unanimous Decision victory.
Jonathan Morales (3-0, 3 KOs) from Channelview, TX over Joseph Walker (0-2) from Texarkana, TX.
Morales from just east of Houston landed with heavy hands causing significant damage and stunning his opponent against the ropes and retreating him into a shell en route to a TKO stoppage at 1:38 of the second round.
Jamie Hernandez (1-0) from Killeen, TX over Francisco Arellano (4-2, 1 KO) from Bay City, TX.
Hernandez went on the road to make a successful introduction to the professional ranks in outworking and out-gutting the local southeast Texas fighter by a Unanimous Decision, scored 39-37 by all three judges.
