Very much agree as regards Davies lyric writing. He did some of the best "normal" people storytelling type lyrics, and a lot of them come across as being very British, and during the time I am thinking of, the other "BIG 3" (Beatles, Stones, and The Who) were doing very innovative and I think great stuff in their own rights, for sure, but coming across as British, especially at the start of the "Invasion" time period, sounding British wasn't one of those many things.
