Comments Thread For: Trout: Lara Has Been Calling Out Golovkin For a Year Now!
Former junior middleweight world champion Austin Trout would like to see WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) fight a different class of opponent.
Too many divisions and too much divide in boxing. Imagine a world where 154 didn't exist and there was no beefs. You would have a division that looked like this:
1. Golovkin
2. Canelo
3. Lara
4. Jacobs
5. Trout
6. Cotto
7. Andrade
8. Billy Hoe
9. Mell Charlo
10. Mall Charlo
11. Vanes
12. Liam Smith
13. J Rock
14. Lemieux
15. Lee
Anyone who cleaned out THAT division would be an immediate HOF'r.
It's easy to call someone out when you already know that the politics won't let it happen. That's why I laugh when guys sign contracts with promoters or networks, then call out people out that they know they won't fight! Right now, I think that HBO contract is smothering GGG's career!
LOL at Trout trying to be a matchmaker. Trout says he wished he had it so easy. Look at his last couple opponents for ****-sakes! Trout is flat out ducking J-Rock and turned down a rematch with Lara not wanting to try and get revenge. Trout needs to STFU.
I would love Golovkin/Lara. I think GGG destroys Lara, but the style match-up, Canelo as a former opponent who struggled with Lara, and GGG haters parading Lara as someone who GGG is avoiding, and Lara being out of Texas, it's a fight that makes a lot of sense for GGG to take. I just doubt the politics would allow it.
Duva just reported back that Kovalev/Stevenson looks dead due to network issues. It was to be on HBOppv with Stevenson getting 50/50 of the purse. Haymon c*ck-block in full effect.
He's taking his mandatory and trying to fight Canelo. When has Lara even fought anyone at 160?
Ducking Lara doe? Lara's manager/twitter guy is the one calling out Golovkin. I still haven't seen a video of Lara doing it himself.
Not to mention, Haymon vs HBO politics... seriously? There's no way on earth they work together to get this fight on, when it's not even financially significant.
