    Double jab

What do you guys use to answer, defend or counter a double jab?

    #2
if he commits wit the first jab just slip it and com ova wit ur right cross, then left hook if u want or u can go right rip 2 da body. however if he throws it like touch ,touch or touch, ****, meaning (touch) is a dummy and (****) mean's he commits, catch it on the right glove walk left and throw 2 or 3 jabs of ur own. also theres always the basic way take it on the forearms wit a tight guard wait 2 c wat he want's 2 do straight right, left hook etc then countr when u get the chance.

i havent had the opportunity to try more things but the two things that have worked for me that i have tried are:

slip right while throwing your own jab
      &
tap down the jab with right hand and power jab right after

This is a slightly vague question. It depends on what you and your opponent are, in terms of orthodox or southpaws.

Nonetheless, I hope I explain this well enough that you can adapt to it if the schemes don't fit. Keep in mind, I'm assuming you're an orthodox fighter.

You're ORTHODOX, he's SOUTHPAW: You have to time it first. Then, when you get a feel for his rhythm, you need find ways to block it consistently, atleast the first. Once you've got a feel for that, you'll be able to offset or disrupt his second and you'll be able to counter and avoid the second and usually more powerful jab. You can duck to your left in close, which should position your body to the outside of his body. Direct shots to the body are up there, virtually impossible to block. With this happening, you can also circle to your left and his right, and avoid the big keft hand he might be setting you up for with those jabs. it takes away the jabs and his power shots. From further away, simply block the first or try to take less of it and take a step to your left, when the jab goes back the first time, try to strike in between the shots. This usually takes his idea of the double jab right out of his head.

You're ORTHODOX, he's ORTHODOX: Blocking with your right hand will be key for straight out defense. Stepping in can be a good idea if you block. he throws, you block and step in with a solid left uppercut. Timing his jab with your own also works, especially if you have the longer reach. If you are further away, circle to your left and keep your hands up and once he step in to throw the first, you can duck under and attack the body or come up top.

If you're a SOUTHPAW, switch things around.

        Hope this helps.

well it depends alot on what type of oponent u have and how he is using the double jab and what his intentions are. usually i just jab back, then eighter throw the right if theres an opening or just pivot off to the side.

            im 6'3 & 1/2 fighting at 141 so i never mind a jabbing contest.

How do you know if your opponent is going to do that?.

First you have to predict if your opponent is going to do a double jab.

Usually the strong right or left (Southpaw)is right behind it.

I usually just evade it,duck and go for a right cross or hook before the second jab.(if my opponent is an ortho.)
Southpaw?. I have'nt really fought one who did a double jab.
