Since when has Oscar been SHOT?

I keep hearing this, and it makes me laugh. At the same time, it makes me angry that some people on here are either so ****** that they actually believe this, or straight-up lying to themselves and everyone else.

The word "shot" is thrown around frequently by the boxing community as and when it suits them. It is a word chosen to discredit a fighter who they don't like.

In this case, that fighter is Manny Pacquiao. The guy is a phenomenal fighter.

Was Oscar shot when he was winning pretty much every round against Forbes and bloodying his nose with 5 punch combo's? That fight was only 7 months ago. He hasn't fought since then, and obviously hasn't taken any punishment or been through any vicious, brutal wars. So how and when exactly did Oscar become "shot" in only 7 months without even fighting?

While we're at it, answer me this: Why did some people claim Hopkins is shot after Calzaghe beat him, then suddenly he wasn't shot, but labeled a boxing genius a few months later when he destroyed Kelly Pavlik?

In fact, screw it -- don't even bother answering that last part, I don't want to read your wanky comments which are totally wrong anyway.

I'll give you a definition of shot: Ali vs. Holmes.

And a more recent one: Graham Earl vs. Amir Khan. Earl is so shot he was slurring his words in the pre and post-fight interviews. The guy is a human cabbage, and the damage was caused by Katsidis.

You must not have been a boxing fan for very long because in this sport guys get old and their careers can go down the drain all in one fight.. and it's not like this snuck up on us outta no where. The guy is in his mid 30's and has shown signs of decline for years now, and Manny being a great fighter doesn't have anything to do with it. Oscar should have been able to dismantle a man that he outsized by 3 ****ing weight divisions!

Face it man, open your eyes and see that the man is done. Hopefully Oscar realizes this too and retires and gets the hell out of the way to allow these younger more prime fighters to get fights done against each other.

Unlike other fighters who are forced to climb back up, we never knew how much Oscar had left because he never had to.

For instance, since he kept fighting the best, a lot of people thought he was still very good even though he was always losing. But his performances against guys like Sturm and Forbes should've told us.

When you can no longer pull the trigger, you're done. Look at Jones a few weeks ago, look at Oscar now.

Now a days, past prime = shot, what ever the circumstances are.

That was the EXACT answer I was waiting for. Thank you.

Roach is wrong. He also misused the term "shot". End of story.

Older? Yes, a little. Slower? Maybe. Shot? No chance.
