So, if Gassiev had taken the WBA title from Lebedev as well that would somehow make Dorticus the WBA champ?

Having a clear demarcation for the #1 contender, who the champion should be mandated to fight quickly, is a great idea. The only issue is calling them "champion" when there is already a champion. What it should be is a necklace, or a bracelet, or a scarf or something. The "#1 contender necklace." That way, everyone knows who the mandatory is to the champion, but it avoids the problem of having two champions.

FYI, if he really wanted to get rid of multiple titles, he wouldn't have just issued a new one to Murata right after consolidating Jacobs and GGG's belts. That shows he's not even trying.

Dont forget about Brian Castano who they just promoted to World Champion at 154 now that Andrade has moved up.
