Why are some people so concerned with ticket sales, who's the biggest draw, etc?

I think numbers and sales do play a part in boxing. Boxing is a sprt for us fans to enjoy for 12 rounds, but it's a big business with bets, casinos and huge money.

Life is about numbers, but don't get too obsessive or it kinda dictates things while it should be a result of.

To me it is an interesting conversation however when posters like Horus and that one jack az Al ( ima put errr1 who ownes me on ignore cause Im a biatch) Haymon use it as a "excuse" as to why their God doesnt take a decent fight and why he shouldnt have to, that is when it gets annoying to me. It gives posters something to discuss but ya'll are right we dont get a dime although some of us act like we do or we do it like Horus and work Pro Bono
      hahaha

Is it just me who doesn't actually give a **** if Firepower sells more or less than Mayweather's last fight? Jesus. Some of you are way too concerned with the most pathetic **** and we don't need this "my fighter is better than your fighter cause he sold this amount!" garbage. Get lost.
What up Sam. For the most part I agree with you but in fairness this type of talk has been going on for months with people talking about Mayweather's lackluster star power. It was almost a daily topic. Since Mayweather did great numbers in Sept that surprised many of his detractors, many of the same people who spearheaded the charge before say that sales are not important and no longer wish to talk about them. I have no problems talking about ANY fighters sales because it can be interesting. Some peple do go overboard and get unreasonable though.

Eh, it's pretty much a fact. lol

But you know what I'm saying. Floyd's fan should concentrate more on his skills and utter domination of his opposition, but they get ****** in to dumb pissing contests.

99% of the time guys who use that excuse are not boxing fans but their fighters cheer leaders. Oscar and Floyd are masters of this, their stans support whatever bs they pull, so that sums it up.

actually I think its an interesting part of the sport but not the way some here use it to determine who the bigger draw is

the machinations of the sport behind the sport are very intriguing to me. The way that fighters and promoters get things accomplished, what determines market value etc etc

but I do get where you are coming from

You would hope that whoever campaigns about who is "the most popular" boxer based on PPVs is somebody that is young, immature and doesn't know better yet.

But to be fair, America does have a culture of celebrating celebrity and with that comes interest in how much money people have. Way before "Cribs" there was a show called "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" and that was very popular. Some hip-hop artists also made it popular to talk about how much money they got. Media shows do it as well.

Then sometimes I wonder if people who "defend" or "protect" their favorite fighter to the point of borderline obsession are people who somehow think they are pleasing said fighter and somehow are distant "friends" because of this.

A great win doesn't land you a big fight these days unless you have some sort of PPV numbers and **** to attract the big boys. It's a shame.

I would say full obsession, some comments here in NSB are just plain ignorant.

I think Al Haymon gets a cut from floyd's PPVs. i would feel sorry for him if he didn't.
